Resurrection

A new connection and a pending introduction led to a visit to St. Fiacre's church, Kilkenny. This compact church is located in Loughboy and is part of the parish of St. Patrick. The church's interior consists of beautiful stained glass windows by artist Patrick Muldowney which were commissioned for the church, most likely when the church was being built. However, the artwork on the wall behind the altar arrived to St. Fiacre's after it was rejected by the original commissioners; a church in Dublin. 

The work, by Oisin Kelly, is more 'resurrection' rather than crucifixion. The body of Christ stands in triumph and depicts Christ released from the horror and suffering of the crucifixion; it is a work which brings to mind joy and celebration rather than death.
